Rob LaFond – SHADOWS IN THE ROOM (SELF-RELEASE)

Young L.A.-based, Massachusetts-born singer/songwriter Rob LaFond has an old soul and has said to have an affinity for artists from Beck to Coltrane and the Stones. (I also hear a bit of Anton Newcombe or Elliot Smith in his hazy, jangly, meloncholic songs). “Open Road” has a “Wild Horses” vibe, and a chorus made crisp with female vocals by Tracy Adams. “Da Da” brings on the jazz with an instrumental shimmer. These ten tracks promise cool things to come by this new kid in town.
